In Villa Verde, a small barangay in the municipality of Tagbina in Surigao del Sur which can be reached through an hour of habal-habal ride from the national highway, some mothers primed the peace and development initiatives for their community, and for their children.

Fresh water, Fresh start for Pantukan villagers

GIGAQUIT, SURIGAO DEL NORTE—Road projects completed under the government’s Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) program have helped students and other residents in Surigao del Norte’s far-flung barangays overcome the difficulties of getting to school, health centers, and the marketplace.

With the help of the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) program of the government, two barangays in Veruela, Agusan del Sur are now harnessing solar power to provide barangays streetlights and drying facilities. Barangay Sta. Emilia was the recipient of solar streetlights, while Barangay La Fortuna received a solar dryer, in addition to a multi-purpose hall.

 

PIA| Compostela Valley is receiving substantial funding assistance for health, agriculture and infrastructure development seen to bring people closer to government.
